Advocated by Farran Zerbe and intended to celebrate the world peace that followed the Great War, the obverse depicts the Goddess of Liberty and the reverse shows a stately eagle. In 1965, 316,000 1964-dated Peace dollars were struck but melted, adding to the lore of the series.
