Before the second world war they produced many types of car, and designed entirely new concept cars that were streamlined and decades ahead of the competition.<br>During German wartime occupation the plans for the streamlined tatras were stolen by the German government and the Volkswagen beetle was created.<br>During the communist years tatra would boost sales by entering their heavy duty trucks into the Paris Dakar rally.
