Antique A.S. Aloe Co. Physio-therapy Device Shock Quack Medicine Military. Very unique item that appears to have been used by military. Plaque on front of case says “To Sgt Givings from the flight medics and flight surgeon.” Items like this one often described as shock therapy or quack medicine devices. However knowing that electrical muscle stimulation is used by physical therapists to activate certain muscle groups currently this may represent one of the earliest devices for this purpose. Assume used by military given plaque on front. A.S. Aloe medical device company founded 1860 and used A.S. Aloe Co. logo 1893 to 1970. Within was a book “Abnormal Psychology” copyright 1930 and surgical cap marked Dr Ben as shown. There were no cords/wires present. Item therefore untested. If I had to guess I would say this item is WW II era. Unique item personalized by plaque. Great historical piece. Weighs 40 to 50 lbs which impacts shipping cost.
