    Description

Rare early patch.  There is one in the collection of the Golden (Colorado) History Museum and is described as follows:
"This particular patch was affixed to the shoulders of the Deputy's "pink tan" jackets. It is oversized, a larger version of the same patch affixed to the shoulders of the Deputy's green blouse. Created on a manual typewriter, Enlow abbreviated when necessary and designed a symbolic representation of the agency character. A mounted rider symbolic of the first mode of transportation of the frontier Sheriff is depicted in the middle, surrounded by a circle filled with evergreens and mountains that depict Jefferson County. A single strand of gold line depicting Clear Creek is found linking two columns that symbolized the Constitutional separation of church, state, executive, and judicial branch"
    This is an exceptional example.
    Measures about 3 x 4 inches.
